Suzuki Marine, a leading manufacturer of outboard motors and marine engines, has a long history in White Settlement, Texas. The company was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki as the Suzuki Loom Works, producing weaving looms for the textile industry. It wasn't until 1965 that Suzuki entered the boating industry with their first outboard motor. In 1976, Suzuki established its U.S. subsidiary, American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC), which brought them to White Settlement. This small town located just west of Fort Worth became home to one of ASMC's largest manufacturing plants and headquarters for their marine division. The decision to build this plant in White Settlement was strategic. Not only did it provide easy access to major waterways such as the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Texoma, but it also had close proximity to Interstate 30 for distribution purposes. Additionally, Texas offered favorable business incentives and tax breaks for companies looking to establish themselves within the state. Construction on the plant began in April of 1981 and was completed by October of that year. The facility covered over 500 acres and included an assembly line capable of producing up to 1000 engines per day at full capacity. In addition to production capabilities, there were also testing facilities on-site where each engine went through rigorous quality control measures before being shipped out. At its peak production years in the late '80s and early '90s, the White Settlement plant employed over one thousand workers who produced both two-stroke and four-stroke engines ranging from 2 horsepower all the way up to V6 models with over 300 horsepower. Throughout its time in White Settlement, Suzuki Marine has been committed not only to providing high-quality products but also giving back to the community they call home. Over the years they have sponsored local fishing tournaments and events such as "Take Me Fishing Day" which promotes outdoor recreation activities for children. They have also partnered with organizations such as the Coastal Conservation Association to promote marine conservation and sustainability. In 2009, Suzuki celebrated its 100th anniversary and continued to expand its operations in White Settlement. In addition to outboard motors, the plant now produces ATVs, motorcycles, and automotive components for Suzuki's other divisions. However, in recent years there has been a decline in production at the White Settlement plant due to shifts in market demand and increased competition. This led ASMC to announce in early 2017 that they would be ceasing production of all US-bound outboard engines by March of that year. While this news was met with disappointment by many within the community, it was not entirely unexpected as Suzuki had already shifted some of their engine production overseas. Despite this setback, Suzuki Marine remains an important part of White Settlement's history and economy. The company continues to maintain their headquarters on-site which houses sales offices as well as research and development facilities for future products. Additionally, while no longer producing outboard engines at full capacity like they once did, the facility still employs over 300 workers who are responsible for assembling motorcycle engines and other automotive components. This provides valuable jobs for local residents and contributes significantly to the city's tax base. In conclusion, Suzuki Marine has played a significant role in White Settlement since its establishment over four decades ago. From providing employment opportunities to giving back through community involvement activities, this company has become an integral part of the town's fabric. While changes in market conditions may have altered their original plans for production at the plant, it is clear that Suzuki remains committed to being a long-term presence within White Settlement.

White Settlement, Texas is a small city located in Tarrant County, just 9 miles west of downtown Fort Worth. With a population of approximately 17,000 residents, it may not be the biggest or most well-known city in Texas, but its unique history and strong sense of community make it a special place to call home. The city's name has an interesting origin story. In the early 1800s, Native American tribes such as the Comanches and Wichitas roamed the area where White Settlement now stands. However, by the mid-1800s, white settlers began moving into these lands and establishing homesteads. These settlers often clashed with Native Americans over land ownership rights. In one particular instance in 1843, a group of about thirty white families settled on what was then known as "White Bluff." This settlement became known as White Settlement due to its location on this particular bluff along the Trinity River. As more people moved into the area over time, White Settlement grew into a bustling community with thriving businesses and industries. During World War II, several military bases were established nearby which brought even more growth and prosperity to the area. Today, White Settlement maintains its strong connection to its past while also embracing modern development. The city has undergone many changes throughout its history but still retains much of its small-town charm. One notable aspect of White Settlement is that it is home to one of only two remaining Dairy Queens that still feature their signature red barn-style architecture from when they first opened in 1951. The iconic restaurant remains popular among locals who enjoy their famous soft serve ice cream treats year-round. Another important piece of White Settlement's history lies within its schools. The town's first schoolhouse was built in 1875 by James Silliman Wilbarger Jr., who served as principal for many years until his death at age ninety-three in 1934. Today there are several schools in the city, including Brewer High School, which is known for its successful athletics programs. In addition to its rich history and strong community spirit, White Settlement also offers residents a variety of recreational opportunities. The city has over 20 parks and playgrounds, including Central Park which features a splash pad and skate park. It also hosts an annual Fourth of July celebration with fireworks that draws people from all over the surrounding area. White Settlement may be small in size, but it has a big heart when it comes to supporting local businesses. The city's Chamber of Commerce actively promotes and supports locally-owned businesses through various events such as their annual "Taste of White Settlement" festival where attendees can sample food from local restaurants. The sense of community extends beyond just supporting local businesses; there are numerous organizations and groups within the city that bring people together. These include volunteer groups like Keep White Settlement Beautiful which organizes clean-up efforts around the town, as well as civic clubs like Rotary Club International that focus on service projects within the community. One notable event that showcases the strong bond between residents is "Old Fashioned Christmas," an annual holiday celebration where families come together to enjoy caroling, hot cocoa, and visits with Santa Claus himself. But perhaps what truly sets White Settlement apart is its dedication to honoring veterans. In 2002, the Veterans Memorial Plaza was built in front of City Hall as a tribute to those who have served our country. Each year on Memorial Day weekend, ceremonies are held at this plaza to honor fallen soldiers and recognize current military members. In recent years, White Settlement has faced some challenges such as natural disasters like flooding or tornadoes. However, through these difficult times, the spirit of resilience among its residents shines bright. Overall, White Settlement may not be widely known outside Texas borders but for those who call it home or have visited before- it holds a special place in their hearts. Its unique history, strong sense of community, and dedication to supporting local businesses make it a gem in the Lone Star State. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to settle down or just passing through on your way to Fort Worth, White Settlement is definitely worth a visit.

Suzuki Marine is a well-known and reputable brand in the marine industry, trusted by boat owners and enthusiasts around the world. Founded in 1965 by Michio Suzuki, it has been providing high-quality outboard motors to customers for over five decades. The company has come a long way since its humble beginnings and has become one of the leading manufacturers of outboard motors globally. The story of Suzuki Marine can be traced back to 1909 when Michio Suzuki founded the Suzuki Loom Works in Hamamatsu, Japan. The company initially produced weaving looms for the silk industry but later expanded into other products such as motorized bicycles, cars, sewing machines, and small engines. In 1952, after World War II ended, Japan was facing economic difficulties that affected many industries. As a result, Michio Suzuki decided to diversify his business and ventured into producing motorcycles under the name "Suzuki Motor Corporation." It quickly gained popularity for its lightweight two-stroke engines with innovative features like forced lubrication system and automatic oil injection. Inspired by this success in motorcycle production, Michio's son Shunzo Suzuki proposed that they also start manufacturing outboard motors. In 1960 he began developing prototypes of two-stroke outboards using existing motorcycle parts at their research facility near Lake Hamana. After numerous trials and improvements on design and performance aspects led by Osamu Gotoh (head engineer), they finally launched their first prototype - D55 - in 1962. After three years of further development based on customer feedback from test markets in Florida Bay (USA) & Manila Bay (Philippines), they released their first commercial model DT-75 with an output power of around nine horsepower (7kw). This motor was smaller than any other available at that time but had comparable or even better performance which made it popular among boaters worldwide. By 1973 following significant growth in the Japanese market, Suzuki expanded its production capacity and started exporting to North America. The company established a subsidiary named American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) in Los Angeles, which would be responsible for importing and distributing motorcycles and outboard motors. In 1976, Suzuki Marine made a significant breakthrough when they introduced their first four-stroke model - DT85 - with an output power of around fourteen horsepower (10kw). This innovation put them ahead of other manufacturers who were primarily producing two-stroke motors at that time. Furthermore, it helped establish the brand as an environmentally friendly option as four-stroke engines produce fewer emissions than two-strokes. Suzuki continued to enhance its product line by introducing more advanced models such as the V4 series in 1987 featuring electronic fuel injection technology for better fuel efficiency and performance. It was also during this period that they began collaborating with boat builders to create packages where boats are sold together with their outboard motor counterparts. The late 90s marked another significant milestone for Suzuki Marine when it launched its flagship model DF60 – a six-cylinder engine capable of producing sixty horsepower (44kw), making it one of the most powerful motors available at that time. Its success led to further expansion into Europe and Asia markets. In recent years, environmental concerns have been on the rise globally, leading to stricter regulations on emissions from marine engines. To stay ahead of these changes, Suzuki pioneered clean technologies like selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system in their larger models starting from DF70A released in 2009 followed by DF40A & DF50A later on. Suzuki has always prioritized research and development throughout its history; thus continuous improvements have been made on existing products while new designs are constantly being developed. For instance, after ten years since launching SCR-equipped models; they now offer lean-burn control technology which optimizes combustion resulting in even lower emission levels without sacrificing performance. White Settlement is a small suburban city located in the western part of Tarrant County, Texas. It is situated just 12 miles west of downtown Fort Worth and has a population of over 17,000 people. Despite its relatively small size, White Settlement has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to the early days of Texas settlement. The land where White Settlement now stands was originally inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Tonkawa, Comanche, and Wichita tribes. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the mid-1800s when it was still part of Mexican territory. One prominent settler was John Peter Smith who established his ranch near what is now known as Lake Worth. In 1843, Texas became an independent republic after gaining its independence from Mexico. This opened up opportunities for more settlers to come into the area. In 1856, James Naylor built a log cabin along Mary's Creek which served as both his home and a trading post for travelers passing through on their way westward. The location where Naylor's cabin stood eventually became known as "White Settlement" due to its white-washed fences that surrounded it. In addition to being an important stopover point for travelers heading west or south towards San Antonio or Austin, White Settlement also became a hub for cattle drivers moving herds north towards Kansas City markets. During this time period, conflicts between Native Americans and European settlers were commonplace in Texas. One such incident occurred near present-day White Settlement when members of the Parker family were attacked by Comanche warriors while traveling through on their way home from church services in Fort Worth. Five family members were killed during this attack which came to be known as “the Elm Creek Raid.” As more settlers moved into the area throughout the late 19th century and early 20th century, farming began to thrive with crops like corn and cotton becoming staple commodities produced by local farmers.
